Memento

Memento is a thriller and it tells the audience this right from the start. The blue text gives a sense of cold and unease. The picture in the background keeps you interested in what is the picture and makes you ask questions such as why is the picture there. They do a close up of the picture however you cannot clearly make out what it is.This is a good way of gaining the audiences attention as they want to put pieces together and answer their own questions.

The sound  is very blunt and gives an uncomfortable feeling. Digetic sound that is hyperbolic is used to emphasis the tension building. The start of the film, he is in a dark room which could represent him being stuck in his own little world, alone . Also, the background is black and white which can represent when he is putting his thinking all together. Some  mise-en-scene which is the characters clothing. The director has put the main character in bright clothing to make the audience ask the question of why is he in the suit and qustion his character.

Throughout the opening sequence of the film, close ups are always used in thrillers. Also, anotherangle was the low angle shot when the guy was looking up at the guy with the gun. This is used t show the status between the two characters and also to show the good and bad.

The pace of the editing is very fast when there are close ups of the smaller objects that are on the  ground. There are just simple cuts between shots involving no transiations as they are not nessesary. At the start the black background slowly fades into a close up of him holding the photo which is a fade out.
